Indy Juniors Coaches are BRINGING A CHANGE to Indiana High School Volleyball!!!
Now that we are well into the 2010 season, you probably have heard about some big upsets, great starts, and overall change brought to the Indiana high school volleyball community; but who is leading the way? None other than our very own IJ Coaches.
Kristina Johnson, who is only in her first year as Head Coach at Southport High School, has taken the team to the school's best start in history. Currently the Cardinals are 15-4 overall and are number one in their league with a record of 5-0.
Nick Wolf, the Head Coach of the North Central Panthers, and Matt Fishman, the Varsity Assistant and JV Coach, have entered their second year with the panthers and have lead the team to 9 wins currently; this with a program that has not seen 10 wins since 2001. Their ninth win came on September 21st, with a big win in 5 against school rival Carmel.
Varsity Assistant Jarrett Habel, has been working hard with the Fishers Tigers, who are currently 14-2. The Tigers have had obviously much success this year including a huge win in 3 against top 10 ranked Bishop Chatard. Fishers is currently 3rd in their conference.
Jason Young, the Varsity Assistant for Bishop Chatard, and his band of Trojans are currently ranked #4 in the state at the 3A Class Level. Chatard has been showing their strength with big wins over power houses Cathedral and Brebuf, leading to a Trojan record of 12-5. Jason will have to push his team with the big match against undefeated Muncie Burris on September 22nd.
There is still much more volleyball left this season and with so many great things happening we're certain that not only will the IJ coaches be leading the way, but so will all of our great athletes.
